NOTE: Update on accessibility changes at The Union Theatre

Bass Coast Shire Council advises that The Union Theatre, Wonthaggi, will be temporarily closed from Monday 20 July to Thursday 31 July while essential heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) upgrades are undertaken.
The works are part of Council's ongoing commitment to improving visitor comfort and ensuring the theatre continues to provide a high-quality experience for audiences, performers and the wider community.
Once complete, patrons can look forward to significantly improved temperature control throughout the venue, creating a more comfortable environment year-round for cinema screenings, live performances and community events.
While we appreciate this short closure may cause some inconvenience, these essential upgrades are an investment in the future of The Union Theatre and the experience of everyone who walks through its doors.
During the closure there will be no cinema screenings at The Union Theatre. A small number of scheduled events will be rescheduled or relocated to alternative venues where possible.
Affected ticket holders will be contacted directly with further information regarding any changes to their bookings.
Council apologises for any inconvenience and appreciates the community's patience while these improvements are carried out.
Please Note! - Accessibility changes at The Union Theatre.
Unfortunately due to critical maintenance issues, the lift at The Union Theatre in Wonthaggi is out of order for the foreseeable future.
If you’ve booked into accessible seating you should have received a phone call to move you to our new accessible seats. When you arrive, you now go straight past the lift and one of our friendly ushers will take you to rows A and B which are fitted with suitable accessible seating.
Due to the gradient at the temporary seating location, some patrons using wheelchairs, walking frames or other mobility aids may find the seating area less comfortable during the show. Please also note that if your wheelchair or mobility device does not come with breaks to support the slope, we have weighted bags to support the wheels when parked.
If you have any issues or questions, please call our staff on (03) 5671 2720 or email culturalvenues@basscoast.vic.gov.au
