Bringing culture to Bass Coast since 1925

The Union Theatre in Wonthaggi also known as The Wonthaggi Union Community Arts Centre or WUCAC was built in 1925 by the Miners Union. It stood up until the 10th of April 1980 when fire razed the building.  However, through the commitment of the then known Borough of Wonthaggi, the theatre was rebuilt and opened on the 13th of November 1982.

The Union in Wonthaggi offers a full program of events including new release cinema, fine film, music, dance, comedy, theatre and more. This is a multi-use, 400 seat venue and is available for hire. Check out the Live Shows and Cinema pages to see what’s on so you can come and experience our venue.
