Summer on Phillip Island is all about long afternoons, salty sea breezes and great music - and this January, we’re bringing all of that to the front lawn of Berninneit!
Pack a picnic, roll out a rug, settle in with friends or family and enjoy four weekends of live local talent under the summer sky.

Smiley-Doherty is a South Gippsland alt-folk act blending original songs, rich harmonies, and
story-driven performances shaped by the landscape, weather, and community of regional
Victoria.

No Promises
JANUARY 9
A chance meeting in South Gippsland, Victoria, brought about by a drought of live performances
during the COVID-19 period of 2020, saw the birth of No Promises.
Janine Garvey and Eric Collier – both established musicians in their local area – discovered a
strong artistic connection during a number of writing and rehearsal sessions in the middle of the
year. The result was the decision to create their own collaborative project, culminating in the
formation of No Promises.
Are they country? Are they pop? Are they rock? Are they blues?
The answer is clearly option E – all of the above. Most artists and groups relish the opportunity to be defined by a genre in which they feel comfortable. Eric and Janine refuse to do that – they
write, create and record music that transcends a single, easy-to-label and definable genre box.

Maddy May
JANUARY 16
Maddy May is an emerging independent Australian indie-folk artist from Phillip Island, Victoria. Maddy has recorded and produced her own music, as well as collaborating with other artists such as Riley Pearce and Billy Otto to create some magic co-releases. Her delicate vocals and thoughtful songwriting are captivating. She has a genuine stage presence. She will make you laugh and cry all at once.

Rosie Westbook
JANUARY 23
Rosie Westbrook is renowned for creating music that is hauntingly evocative, spacious and
inherently cinematic.
Rosie’s new album 'Always the Sea' is a collection of ethereal, hypnotic, constantly moving and
meticulously structured musical narratives, created from a rich palette of sounds and effects
plucked and bowed on her trademark double bass and ringing guitars. Rosie released her first two solo albums 'Wave' in 2003 and 'Big as the Ocean' in 2007, receiving critical acclaim and establishing her compositional style with its filmic and emotive qualities.
Classically trained in guitar and double bass, Rosie has played in orchestras, chamber ensembles, theatrical productions, as well as working as a widely successful composer for film and television.
