About the Exhibition
Vision and Reality celebrates a lifetime of artistic practice by Phillip Island artist John Adam. Dedicated to painting from an early age, John studied at Swinburne Technical College in 1953, and has exhibited consistently since then, receiving many awards including the Bass Coast Shire Acquisitive Award on five occasions. Displaying a selection of paintings spanning seventy years, this modest survey exhibition captures John Adam’s continuing experimentation and his belief – to quote the late Brett Whiteley – that “painting is a difficult pleasure”.
