About

All our stories reveal something about who weare and what we value. The twenty two

stories youwill hear today are no exception. Drawn from ahundred years of

community life, they are anentertaining, often moving study of life in a small country town.

But there are other possibilities as well.

Our town is growing. Ask the steady stream of newcomers why they like Wonthaggi and they’relikely to say “It’s friendly!” Ask what else and they can’t tell you. Most of us, in fact, struggle to say it better.

But if we’re not clear about why we value our town and it continues to grow and change, it’s likely that we’ll entirely lose what makes it different.

What makes Wonthaggi, Wonthaggi?

What should we fight to keep?

Keeping questions like these at the top of our minds, today’s stories become a fascinating opportunity to think about what is best about our town, pay regard to those qualities and wear them as a badge of honour..
